 LLL Aprons

Aprons were originally designed to be used as a protective covering for your clothing.  In the olden days, women used it as they took care of the needs of her family.  She worn it as she gathered food from the field, collected eggs, milked the cow, gathered wood to heat the home and to cook for her family.  She also used it as she cleaned the house, cooked, sewed and cared for the children.  Men used aprons as well when he worked on his farm, in his businesses and took care of his family.  As I was growing up, there wasn’t a day that my mother, auntie, grandma or any of the ladies in the neighborhood didn’t wear an apron. This included me and all the little girls in the neighborhood. The only exception was when we went to church and even there it would be worn during any church function and as preparations were being made for the pastor's meal every Sunday after church.   An apron was a tool that was used to help us care for our loved ones, family, friends and community.  When you put on that apron, it was time to get down to business.  It was the first thing you did to start the process.  After you picked out the one you wanted to use for the day or the occasion, the process of creating and building was set in motion.  And of course at that point, nothing else mattered.  It’s like singing a song.  You can’t start a song and then just stop two verses in.  You have to sing the whole thing to get the full effect of what it set out to do. 

Today, we all could use a little covering.  Families, loves ones, friends, neighbors, co-workers.  No matter who you are or what you do day in and day out, nothing can take the place of having someone love on you.  That could be in the form of a smile, a hug, a kind word, a meal or just a 5 minute conversation.  If we would all just set our minds to just cover each other no matter how small, it would give greater worth to the little things we do. It does not take much. It’s the one thing everyone can do right from the privacy of their home.   So get started today building, creating, preparing, connecting and setting in motion wonderful memories, laughter, good times and just plain quality family times.  Sometimes, it’s the little things that you do for each other the make a world of difference.  Join us as we continue our efforts of lifting, loving, living and laughing.
